About the role

This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a highly skilled and experienced team. The Families Where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI) team works to enhance the capacity of services to assist families through partnerships between sectors and services, group program development and implementation, workforce and resource development and whole of community education. The FaPMI Community Workers for Children and Young People (FaPMI CYP) supports children and young people up to 25 years old, including young carers. The FaPMI CYP Worker positions will contribute to provision of a whole of family approach to service delivery. This includes providing practical support, information, and community connection to children and young people, including referral to appropriate peer support programs.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in the mental health field with a minimum 3 years in a mental health setting
  • Demonstrated understanding and empathy of the health and wellbeing impacts of mental health challenges on family life, including the caring roles and responsibilities of children and young people
  • Working knowledge of mental health and other community service systems
  • Experience working with children, young people and families and a commitment to family-inclusive practice and to maximising opportunities and support for children, young people and families
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
