CatholicCare Tasmania are seeking an experienced and passionate Family and Relationship Counsellor to work out of our Northwest office

We have 60 years’ experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing. Our services are available to people of all backgrounds, religious beliefs and circumstances, and focus in particular on children, young people and families.

About the Role

Our Personal, Family and Relationship Counselling Program aims to support respectful relationships, build parenting capacity, improve the wellbeing of children and young people, and increase participation of people in community life to enhance family and community functioning.

As a Family and Relationship Counsellor, you will deliver a range of counselling and support services to individuals, couples and families in the Northwest of Tasmania. You will provide a range of focused psychological strategies to individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues in the areas of anxiety, relationship issues, drug and alcohol issues, mental health, separation, trauma, family violence, grief, and parenting. You will assist clients to actively participate in establishing goals relevant to interventions and make appropriate referrals to external sources as required.

This role will provide you the ability to continue to be inspired and rewarded by the work, as well offer many opportunities for professional and personal development.

About You

Ideally you will have demonstrated experience in working with individuals and families which may include grief and loss, substance use issues, parenting, domestic/family violence and mental health concerns.

Tertiary qualifications at degree level in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline are a must. It is necessary that your interpersonal and communication skills are at a high level, to effectively develop and maintain partnerships, networks and client relationships. You will require maturity, empathy, and resilience to deal with challenging matters.

We are happy to consider both full-time and part-time for the right candidate.

You will be required to hold a current Working with Vulnerable Persons’ Registration and current Australian driver’s licence.
