About the opportunity

The Family Preservation and Reunification Response Program provides an innovative approach to delivering relational, therapeutic, evidence-informed intervention support to vulnerable children and families in partnership with Child Protection. The program aims to prevent at risk children and young people from entering or re-entering care, and also supports children and young people currently in care.

As an FPR Practitioner, you will aim to prevent children from having further statutory intervention and entry into care services. In this role, you will also work in close partnership with partner agencies to provide responsive, intensive and sustainable support to meet the safety and developmental needs of vulnerable children/young people and support the needs of parents.

About you

You are looking to join an organisation that truly supports vulnerable Victorians and Tasmanians to improve their lives.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related tertiary qualification relevant to child and family welfare
  • A current driver’s licence valid in Victoria
  • Demonstrated ability as a practitioner in the child, youth and family welfare field
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with families successfully and completing assertive outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and appropriately respond to risk for children and young people
  • A commitment to the family-centred approach and the family strengthening and empowerment models of practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of the ‘Best Interests’ Case Practice Model and Children Youth and Families Act (CYFA) 2005 and 2015 amendments
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare for and conduct meetings and implement agreed actions
