- Full time, permanent role
- Salary from $76,938 per annum, plus super and access to salary packaging
This role is responsible for the provision of early intervention and prevention advice and support, casework and case-management, with a focus on working with vulnerable fathers and their families who are at risk of entering or escalating in the child protection system.
This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. All applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977
What your day to day will look like;
- Provide early intervention and prevention advice and support services to fathers and their families with complex needs in the Family Support Program
- Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and take immediate action in line with Uniting policies and procedures where the safety of children and/or young person is at immediate risk
- Support parents/carers to develop their skills by modelling and teaching positive parenting strategies
- Conduct home visiting and facilitate parenting groups/playgroups
- Assess families strength and needs using Uniting’s Early Intervention Assessment Tool to formulate goals that are child focused and address the safety and well being of the child
- Advocate effectively on behalf of service users and linking them to ongoing support
About you
- Identifies as an Aboriginal person and able to provide appropriate evidence of Aboriginal identity that satisfies the accepted definition of an Aboriginal person
- Relevant Community Services qualification (minimum diploma level)
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with vulnerable fathers and their families (preferred) using a strengths-based approach.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principals of early intervention.
- Demonstrated understanding of children’s developmental stages and practical parenting strategies.
- Experience of working with diversity including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
- Proven communication skills and the ability to identify needs, strengths and potential risks.
- Current drivers licence
- Ability to work flexible hours
