Our Victim Connect service works with victims of violent crime across Queensland. In this role, you’ll provide a range of in person and online specialist supports to help them overcome the impact of experiencing the crime.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve – in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:

In this full-time, fixed term contract position through to end June 2025 (with strong potential for extension), you’ll provide case management support to victims of violent crime. Based in Mt Isa you’ll be a member of our QLD Programs team and report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing specialist support, psychoeducation, information, referrals and case management to individuals with complex needs
  • Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework
  • Offering specialist services including providing brief counselling interventions, completing financial assistance applications, and providing education on court processes
  • Assisting victims to develop emotional regulation strategies and providing additional holistic support

Does this sound like you?

You’re an experienced case manager with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You’re able to respond calmly and effectively in complex situations. You possess a thorough understanding of the impact of violent crime and sexual assault and are able to apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework.

This role requires:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Service Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar service
  • Knowledge and understanding of impact of violent crime and sexual assault on individuals, and trauma-informed case management skills
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Current drivers’ licence
