About our Organisation

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of
human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues
in isolation.

We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we
support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn’t do any of this without
our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world
where it’s needed the most.

About the Opportunity

You will deliver an innovative project that aims to help Scottish farmers to benefit from
nature and natural capital markets to support low-input farming and agroecological farm
practices. Working with a group of farmers you will test a new approach on the ground, based on
the results of a desk-based feasibility study. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver a
partnership project with the unique expertise of a team from the Soil Association, Woodland
Trust and Finance Earth. With the right attitude and successful delivery of this development
project, you will be instrumental in supporting the partnership to develop an ongoing
significant programme based on the learnings from this project. We have got a great office in
Edinburgh or you can work from home. Interviews will be held at the Soil Association Edinburgh
office and are planned to take place on the 21st March. (subject to change)

Please note that this role is subject to confirmation of the project funding. Please contact us
on [email protected] for full details.

About You

You will need extensive knowledge of, and previous involvement in, natural capital projects,
carbon accounting and green finance, an understanding of practical farming and growing, and
empathy with the aims of the Soil Association and the project partners. You will work well with
farmers, and effectively use and apply research knowledge, have excellent communications skills
and a keen interest in innovative approaches.
