About our Organisation
The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity which works across the spectrum of
human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues
in isolation.
We campaign for change, we support farming innovation, we serve healthy food in communities, we
support and grow the organic market, and we protect forests. We couldn’t do any of this without
our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world
where it’s needed the most.
About the Opportunity
The Soil Association’s Farming and Land Use Team aims to inspire more farmers and growers to
join the agroecology movement. We then find ways of equipping those looking to transition with
the skills and knowledge necessary to help their business innovate and change. This is a nimble
role based within a small farming communications team which sits between the wider
communications department and the farming and land use team. Your role will be instrumental in
raising awareness of agroecological and organic practices and principles, and building the
reputation of Soil Association as a valuable source of knowledge and advice, and a driver of
research, innovation and knowledge exchange for farmers and growers. You will help us create
and disseminate engaging digital and offline content which makes the practical case for nature
friendly farming. The role combines a mixture of desk-based activity with field work and events
to meet and connect with farmers, growers and foresters.
About You
You will be a passionate communicator with a diverse skill set who can coordinate a range of
communication activities and channels, relaying the latest farming information and engaging
with both organic producers and the wider farming community looking for ways to transform their
farming practices.
You will enjoy being part of a team and working alongside your colleagues to deliver activities
on time, whilst being at ease working independently on assigned tasks.
You will have strong core communication skills, be motivated to develop your experience across
emerging channels and enjoy working with wider teams across the organisation to align our voice
to key audiences.
You will enjoy working across a varying range of projects, across the UK and Europe, and be
interested in the results and impact of the activity that we put out in to the world to
understand what works.
You will enjoy a mixture of working from home and the office, alongside getting out in the
field.
Our Benefits
