Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy in Helsinki is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Driver and Technical Assistant.
The Driver and Technical Assistant is responsible for driving the Embassy vehicles, including the flag vehicle and the mini van. An important part of the role is maintenance of the official vehicles and ensuring the vehicles and garage area are kept clean and in good condition.
Technical assistance to the Estates and Logistics Team and the wider Corporate Services team are also essential functions of this role. The main areas of technical support include back-up IT responsibilities and logistical/estates tasks and other tasks in the embassy as and when required.
The Driver and Technical Assistant will also act as an on-call officer on a regular basis (usually one week per month).

This is a full-time, 36.25 hours per week, permanent position.
Staff may be required to work beyond conditioned hours during the week, or at weekends, in such case they are entitled to take time off in lieu. TOIL hours must have prior approval.

The appointment is subject to professional background check, security clearance and the successful completion of a probationary period.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Finland are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Finnish employment law and FCDO guidance for Country Based Staff.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Finland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
