Main purpose of the job:
Contributing to the implementation of MSF’s operational communication strategy in Iraq according to MSF’s global communications standards. Aiming at building MSF’s visibility, acceptance, and leverage in-side the country. Focusing on Social Media.
Accountabilities:
- Producing, editing, and curating content for publishing on MSF social media accounts in Iraq, with support provided for translation where needed.
- Suggesting innovations for content creation and increasing MSF’s social media audience in Iraq.
- Helping MSF to build its social media audience through: Promoting MSF social media profiles externally.
- Encouraging staff to use social media guidelines.
- Providing support for trainings on social media
- Monitoring and analyzing online topics and trending subjects that are relevant to MSF operations.
- Monitoring MSF mentions on social media and reporting to supervisors on problematic MSF mentions on social media.
- Monitoring backend analytics and evaluating engagement of followers by geographic location, demographics, etc.…
- Contributing to the development of MSF social media strategy by providing contextual advice related to social media use and trends in the country.
- Undertaking daily work in line with the broader communications and operational goals of MSF and reply to DMs, comments, and engagements, as appropriate, with guidance from supervisors.
- Participating in communication data-collection and reporting as required
MSFCH Context Specific Accountabilities of the position:
- Social Media Management
- Ensure all of the social media accounts of MSF in Iraq are managed according to the latest social media management standards and that the accounts meet the most updated standards of the industry.
- Ensure that MSF is keeping up with the trends and updates of social media platforms and the digital landscape of Iraq in line with MSF’s global standards for social media use.
- Maintain regular production and publication of contents generated from MSF’s activities in Iraq on the MSF Iraq social media channels, aiming at:
- Raising the profile of MSF’s activities in Iraq.
- Raising key medical and humanitarian topics to the awareness of the Iraqi public and/or specific target audiences.
- Explaining MSF as an organization and its activities and choices in the country.
- The social media Officer is highly expected to proactively propose innovative ideas and approaches for content creation and increasing MSF`s social media audiences in Iraq and ensuring high levels of engagement.
- Help MSF to expand its social media audience and actively engage with followers on social media as appropriate, with guidance from the Field Communications Manager.
- Coordinate with the digital communication’s focal points in the MENA region and internationally to develop digital strategies for MSF social media channels regionally and internationally.
- Design and implement paid and organic social media promotion campaigns for the mission operation.
- Support other departments of the organizations use MSF’s social media accounts for achieving their communications objectives (e.g. Job ads for the HR department, health promotion campaigns for the medical department).
- Follow up, oversee, and guide Social Media Ambassadors (SMAs), who are non-communications staff assigned to support the communications teams, to maximize their contributions and effectiveness in social media activities.
- Monitoring
- Develop and implement a social media monitoring strategy and put in place practical mechanism to detect and report mentions of relevant topics to MSF and provide the organization’s stakeholders with timely reports and analysis.
- Manage monitoring tools and ensure their efficient use to enhance responsiveness and effectiveness in addressing communications incidents and crises and spotting dis/misinformation.
- Propose new tools and techniques for monitoring keywords and contents on social media platforms.
- Manage social media monitoring tools and ensure efficient use.
- Content Production
- The social media Officer is expected to have an active role in the production of multimedia content (photos, videos, etc.…) that helps MSF in Iraq bear witness and communicate about health/humanitarian topics in Iraq, particularly issues of relevance to MSF and its patients.
- Adapt content for MSF social media accounts in English, Arabic and Kurdish, with support provided for translation where needed.
- In addition to collecting content, the social media Officer will edit and develop materials in line with MSF’s visual and ethical guidelines, and in coordination with HQ content production teams.
- Health Promotion
- Work with the Health Promotion and medical teams in the projects and coordination to develop materials for health promotion through digital media platforms, based on needs and gaps in the projects.
- Willingness to travel to MSF’s project locations to contribute to content collection (photos, videos, stories, testimonies, etc.).
