Mission and objectives
Establecida en 1951, la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) es la organización del Sistema de Naciones Unidas líder en el ámbito de la migración y está consagrada al principio de que la migración en forma ordenada y en condiciones humanas beneficia a los migrantes y a la sociedad. La OIM brinda apoyo a las personas migrantes en todo el mundo, desarrollando respuestas efectivas para la cambiante dinámica de la migración y, como tal, es una fuente clave de asesoramiento sobre políticas y prácticas migratorias. La Organización trabaja en el terreno en situaciones de emergencia, facilitando el desarrollo de la resiliencia de las personas en movimiento, y particularmente de aquellas que se encuentran en situación de vulnerabilidad, además de promover la capacidad de los gobiernos a fin de manejar todas las formas de movilidad y sus impactos.
Es de esta forma que el trabajo de la OIM en Ecuador se enmarca en brindar una respuesta coordinada y eficaz, de la mano del gobierno y de las agencias de cooperación presentes en territorio.
Context
In IOM Ecuador, there are 6 sub-offices nationwide located in Quito, Manta, Guayaquil, Tulcán, Huaquillas, and Lago Agrio. The National Field Coordination is responsible for monitoring and promoting strategies that facilitate the implementation of IOM interventions in the territory. Therefore, the Field Assistant will provide support to the activities of the National Field Coordination team based on his/her knowledge and skills.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the National Field Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Follow-up the implementation of locally executed activities and suggest improvements to the interventions of the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador.
• Support the National Field Coordination team in providing an effective response to AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) pathways.
• Assist the National Field Coordination team in the effective operation of case management tools implemented in the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador.
• Assist the National Field Coordination team and the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador in aspects related to coordination with national programmatic units and mission support areas.
• Provide support and follow-up on the elaboration of situational reports from the IOM sub-offices in Ecuador.
• Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of activities within the framework of the Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP).
• Provide support in preparing the terms of reference for consultants, contractors, and procurement processes for goods and services in coordination with project’s administrative area and the procurement unit of the IOM office.
• Assist in administrative, financial, and logistical processes to support local-level interventions.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor, in accordance with his/her capabilities.
