Poor health conditions and malnutrition are major issues confronting the influx of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN). We need to prepare ourselves to control the situation and to prevent deaths and disabilities in FDMN children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM). This study is therefore going to assess the effectiveness of the local Nutrition Managements for the treatment of SAM in Bangladesh.

The Field Research Assistant will report to Field Research Manager and he/she will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. 

S/he will be involved in :

  • Carry out screening process for SAM children, enrollment of eligible children as per study protocol and SOP;
  • Collect data and manage database in consultation with the supervisor;
  • Identify monitoring tools for quality assurance of data and feedback to the supervisors about field activities timely;
  • Train FAs/CNVs on data collection and management;
  • Take physical measurements from the study participants;
  • Dispense study diets in appropriate dosages and according to the protocol or SOP;
  • Support in documenting all the reports and monitoring tools for the study;
  • Maintain safe and adequate storage and transportation of study diets for the INF;
  • requisitions to the Field office for necessary support;
  • Maintain topnotch coordination with UNICEF Officials, INF Staff, CiC, Majhies and other stakeholders;
  • Visit the households of study participants if required.

Required qualification and experience:

  • Graduation in relevant discipline;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data collection preferably in maternal and child nutrition and anthropometry;
  • Experience in working with Rohingya population (FDMN camps) will be given preference;
  • Experience in TAB base data collection/management using google platform and MS Excel will be an added advantage;
  • Adequate knowledge on field research works, quantitative and qualitative data collection. Interviewing skills;
  • Fluency in local dialect will be given preference.
