The Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division at icddr,b has focused on studies to produce new knowledge about emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases of Bangladesh to prevent spillover of pathogens from animals to humans.
The Field Research Manager reporting to the Assistant Scientist will be mainly responsible for devising strategies for project implementation; monitoring and evaluating project activities; tracking and monitoring resource management across projects; preparing reports of the project with the aim of achieving planned objectives of the project within the guidelines of research protocols and organizational values and guidelines. The specific areas of responsibilities include:

The specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Create detailed project plans covering milestones, deliverables etc.;
- Coordinate with internal teams to get resources for execution of project;
- Develop training manuals and materials;
- Organize training programmes, field-test and finalise data collection tools;
- Assign work to team and initiate activities as per project plan;
- Deploy data collection method and address issues faced during field-work;
- Monitor quality of data collected and response rates against timelines and research criteria;
- Escalate issues to supervisor in order to efficiently and effectively execute the research according to protocol;
- Create detailed research methodology;
- Conduct quantitative research;
- Estimate requirements for financial and non-financial resources based on research methodology;
- Seek approval from Finance, RRC, ERC, AEEC on protocol;
- Provide budget oversight and execute any other assigned tasks;
- Oversee data management activities;
- Data analysis using SPSS/STATA/Excel;
- Apply scientific analysis to research findings and derive implications for public health;
- Share initial findings with supervisor and seek inputs;
- Prepare research report;
- Collaborate and coordinate with the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Bangladesh Forest Department, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), other national and international stakeholders.
Required qualification and experience:
- Candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a Master’s degree in relevant discipline with good academic record.
- 05 years of professional experience.
- Experience of capture and sampling of domestic, wild and peri-domestic animals in Bangladesh.
