Field Research Supervisor

Environmental Health and WASH Research Group under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division has focused on determining and mitigating environmental pollution, evaluating WASH strategies for improved health, and generating evidence to understand the extent of environmental pollution and contamination in low-resource settings.

Position Description:

• The Field Research Supervisor will report to the Assistant Program Manager and will be responsible for identifying respondents and collecting data with the objective of supporting research studies within the guidelines of project-specific field research procedures; and organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in –
• Understand project scope, questionnaire, guidelines, survey methodology, timelines, target groups and areas etc.;
• Select target population; Visit field sites as per plan; Conduct interview; Convince respondents to provide valid answers to complete the questionnaire and collect required information as per guideline;
• Take note during qualitative interviews, transcript qualitative data, determine adequate availability and representation of target population groups according to the study criteria;
• Recheck data; Perform data entry and cleaning;
• Escalate and resolve issues after discussing with Supervisor;
• Check completed questionnaires of other individuals to find out inconsistencies;
• Provide other team supports like demonstrating interviewing techniques; Intervene and moderate the interview of team members with an uncooperative respondent, if required; Provide feedback, share experience and learning within the team;
• Submit monthly and quarterly progress reports on field activities.

Required experience and qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in any discipline;
• 2 years of experience in research projects;
