Poor health conditions and malnutrition are major issues confronting the influx of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN). We need to prepare ourselves to control the situation and to prevent deaths and disabilities in FDMN children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM). This study is therefore going to assess the effectiveness of the local Nutrition Managements for the treatment of SAM in Bangladesh.
Position description:
The Field Research Supervisor reporting to the Field Research Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.
S/he will be involved in :
- Ensure proper project implementation in the field through planning field work;
- Execute field implementation plan like screening of SAM children, enrollment of study participants, providing interventions, train field staff, monitor and resolve field related issues etc. as per protocol and SOP;
- Maintain communication with GoB department (RRRC, CiC,UHC), UNICEF Officials, Implementing Partners (IPs), Majhies and other Stakeholders;
- Guide team members on completion of tasks, activities, reports and documents;
- Mentor and train staff on-the-job in the field; Provide feedback to supervisor on team members’ performance in order to have a strong and motivated team;
- Maintain continuous support to the field sites by ensuring timely supply of study diet and other logistics or tools;
- Ensure proper data collection and critically asses data quality;
- Ensure all study participants are receiving the intervention in the correct sequence and amount;
- Guide the field staff in taking accurate physical measurements;
- Ensure the safe storage and transportation of study diet maintaining SOP;
- Overall people management in the field and keep them motivated.
Required qualification and experience:
- Masters in relevant discipline. Candidates with Masters in Nutrition will be preferred;
- Candidates must have minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in humanitarian development;
- Candidates should possess proficiency in fundamental computer applications and Android apps, including the Google platform and MS Excel;
- Candidates should have adequate knowledge on field research works, quantitative and qualitative data collection, anthropometry, motivational skills, training skills, interviewing skills;
- Candidates must be team friendly with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment, displaying patience, kindness and tact;
- Candidates having ability to communicate in local dialect will be given preference.
