Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in Bangui, within the Security Section of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant at this level carries out the following duties: • Provides general administrative support services in order to assist the Security Officers fulfill their duties vis-a-vis staff members and their dependents; • Assists with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information required for the analysis of the security situation by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Deputy Chief Security Officer. • Provides support during the implementation of the Security Plan under the directions of the Chief Security Officer; and offer safety orientation to newly-assigned staff as required. • Assist security officers in preparing security-related documents, including security plans and security risk management (SRM), regular reports and any other reports related to the section’s activities (DCSO) and Security Officers; • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Security Training Courses delivered to security and field mission’s personnel. • Assist and facilitate the implementation of security policies and procedures under the direction of the Security Officer. and provide safety orientation to newly assigned staff members as required • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills, and other security exercises: – Assist and facilitate the implementation of security policies and procedures under the direction of the Security Officer. – Assist in the conduct of residential assessments of UN system personnel. – Assist in Warden security exercises and store this information. • Where appropriate, prepare safety presentations for CSO and safety managers in other units. • Support the unit by performing administrative tasks related to safety. • Perform other duties as required by CSA, DCSA and SCO.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Specialized Security training/courses are desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (03) years of relevant experience in Security or related areas such as Police and Military experience is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
