Job Description
Take the lead both in the field and behind the scenes to help Project Managers deliver the best results for each project by making the most effective use of knowledge and resources. Build and showcase expertise in one or more areas that contribute to the successful execution of ecological restoration projects and initiatives.
Participate in design, develop work plans, and lead teams in the field. Reforestation, stream restoration, meadow building, and habitat enhancement are everyday activities. Occasional trail, bridge, and stormwater feature construction.
Work Balance
Work consists of about 70% in-field tasks and 30% planning and administration. Most projects take place in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and western Maryland. Home most evenings, with multi-day trips both in and out of state, and a few multi-week trips each year.
Requirements
This senior-level, permanent role calls for a broad range of experience in habitat design, soil and hydrology restoration and construction, streambank restoration, large-scale plantings, and invasive species management. Experience in applied research, team building, and budget management is also highly valued. The successful candidate is a person that has decided they want to dedicate at least five years to mastering the science and technique of building authentic, durable natural systems. The successful candidate should also feel comfortable with GIS and regular data collection, but expertise is not required.
