Join the Ecological Restoration Institute (ERI) in Flagstaff, Arizona during our exciting summer field season!
We are nationally recognized for mobilizing our unique assets to help solve the problem of unnaturally severe wildfire & degraded forest health throughout the western U.S. The mission of ERI is to serve as an objective leader in research, scholarship and education, and to assist in the planning and implementation of restoration treatments for frequent-fire forests of the West.
Desired skills:
- Knowledge of ecological field data collection methods + experience with field equipment
- Experience measuring tree height, diamteter, regeneration, shrub abundance, and surface fuel loading
- Familiarity with understory measurements and southwestern forest flora
- General interest in ecological monitoring and/or remote sensing applications in forestry
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to camp and work in rugged conditions for a week at a time
ERI crews are based in Flagstaff but work in a variety of forests in Arizona and the Four Corners area. Crews work 40 hours a week for the duration of the summer field season, which begins mid-May and lasts through mid-August or later.
