The FieldSTEM Coordinator is the regional point of contact for PEI, managing the implementation of FieldSTEM, PEI’s model for PreK-12 natural resource and conservation education. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with public schools, education leaders, nonformal educators, and local agricultural, natural resource, and conservation professionals to facilitate planning and implementation of PEI programs. This is a home and field-based position requiring travel within, but not limited to Pierce, Kitsap, and the southern portion of King counties. A functional home office space and reliable internet is required.

Primary Responsibilities
• Represent PEI in the Region
o Be a positive ambassador of PEI.
o Support the mission and vision of PEI.
o Provide regional planning, support, and reporting on PEI programs and grants.
o Attend, facilitate, and contribute to statewide PEI professional learning workshops.
o Generate regional media for PEI’s social marketing and communication efforts.
• District, School and Teacher Engagement
o Engage districts, schools, and teachers to initiate systemic FieldSTEM implementation.
o Conduct an annual FieldSTEM assessment to determine implementation status and track progress.
o Facilitate the work of districts and schools to embed FieldSTEM into curricular offerings.
o Inform districts and schools about opportunities and resources for field-based science education.
o Engage, recruit and support district/school/teacher leaders to function as the point of contact for FieldSTEM implementation.
• Design and deliver workshops for educators and facilitate meetings to strengthen natural resource and conservation education in the region.
o Coordinate and deliver workshops in collaboration with other staff, community partners and consultants.
o Provide workshops and follow up support for educators focused on strengthening their ability to offer place-based learning for students.
o Facilitate regional collaborative meetings with teacher leaders, district liaisons, consultants, business, and organization partners.
• Community Partner Development
o Maintain a network of partners (businesses, NGO’s, federal and state agencies, etc.) that can support FieldSTEM implementation.
o Facilitate community partner and school connections, including development of teaching resources and outdoor learning opportunities.
• Support PEI’s statewide initiatives
o Work with staff to provide support for initiatives including (but not limited to) PEI’s multicultural programs, Green Jobs, Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, Project WET, and WA State Outdoor School for All.
o Participate in and commit to embracing diversity, justice, equity, and inclusion focused work.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of experience as a formal classroom educator or equivalent lived experience.
• Experience working with and leading adults; skilled in meeting and workshop facilitation.
• Self-directed, takes initiative to follow through on plans and projects.
• Professional, positive, creative, flexible.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic, committed to education, teachers, and students; works well with diverse groups of people.
• Experience in and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Up to date on current initiatives in education, e.g., Washington State Learning Standards, Since Time Immemorial, Environmental and Sustainability Education standards.
• Awareness of green economy sectors (natural resources, renewable energy, agriculture and food systems, outdoor recreation, environmental conservation).
• Ability to provide own transportation and proof of auto insurance coverage.
