Role Purpose
In this role you will keep track of spending and expenses for a significant mid-term project in the Schools area. You’ll also be responsible for both planning and overseeing the financial aspects to meet the project’s goals. This role is extremely important for the financial success of the project and someone detailed oriented, organised and focused is exactly what we need.

Role Context

This role sits within the British Councils Schools area, which supports policy makers, school leaders and teachers in Colombia to include more teaching and learning of coding and computational thinking.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following

  • Manages financial tools for planning, monitoring, and reporting of expenses, costs, and variables of the budget from the assigned project according to the British Council and stakeholders policies.
  • Monitors cash flow and budget forecast for the assigned project according to the stakeholders requirements and the British Councils policies.
  • Supports the project managers in the monitoring of all financial variations, thus anticipating and mitigating risks.
  • Is accountable for the payment chain to suppliers – creation of purchase orders (POs), invoice processing, and payment confirmation.
  • Keeps record in SAP and the approved British Council sites of the information related to the financial execution of the project (accruals, journals).
  • Prepares financial reports including supporting documents for external partners under the supervision and approval of the project managers, including detailed reports of withholding taxes to DIAN, and according to the stakeholders and the British Council policies.
  • Prepares internal financial reports under the supervision and approval of the project managers.
  • Responsible for data management including timely data entry, quality assurance of data, undertaking basic analysis of monitoring data, and developing progress reports to meet needs of funders.
  • Supports internal compliance such as due diligence, records management, data collection and storage.
  • Manages grants administration, selection & evaluation, and procurement processes.
  • Manages events-based components and trainings within a programme.
  • Manages relationships with clients/partners/stakeholders at an appropriate level.
  • Manages relationship with vendors and suppliers and holds them to account for delivering services.

Requirements of the role

  • 3 years of proven experience in financial, administrative and/or control management
  • At least one year of experience in the administration of contracts and suppliers.
  • Ability to operate in English (both written and spoken) at a business level. Non-native speakers of English should demonstrate a CEFR A2 level.
  • University degree in economics, finances, administration, accounting, engineering, or related areas.
