Finance Assistant (m/f)

in Sinuni

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until December 31, 2024. The place of work will be Sinuni, in Iraq (IQ). The position is paid according to SG5.


The aims of the position are to assist in providing administrative support to the project/programme and in managing the project’s/programme’s finances.

Your responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of the project/programme office’s operations
  • Prepare and organise internal team meetings as directed
  • Assist in the project’s/program’s financial administration
  • Provide necessary data to monitor the cash-flow situation and plan the project’s/programme’s (annual/monthly) finances
  • Assist in monitoring expenditures/costs cost type and cost category) with regard to the budget
  • Prepare the necessary documentation for banking transactions (deposit cash or cheque, cash cheques, collect monthly bank statement etc.)
  • Assist in preparing and controlling vouchers of the project/ programme office and country office
  • Follow up on and arrange for a/c receivables and payables settlement (e.g. payment of utilities)
  • Bill private telephone, vehicle use etc.
  • Provide necessary documents and reports for internal controlling
  • Ensure the cash management by being responsible of the cash-boxes: guarantee that
  • the money is disbursed and/or the advances given according to the rules, and from the right
  • cash-boxes and allocated on the relevant project(s)
  • Regular cash reconciliation (ensuring that physical cash balances are matching
  • cashbook records)
  • Do the follow-up of the advances given
  • Inform on a regular basis if there are enough funds in the cash-boxes for all projects.
  • Check the vouchers and the relevant supportive documents (quality, authenticity,
  • reliability, accuracy and fairness).
  • Collect the relevant supportive documents in regards to the expenses/ purchases/
  • payments done in the field.
  • Daily register of vouchers in the accounting software and prepare vouchers for
  • booking.
  • Ensure due payments for all items and services (after approval) and advances.
  • Guarantee the respect of Welthungerhilfe’s financial guidelines and procedures.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • 1 to 2 years’ professional experience working in similar position with relevant tasks and responsibilities
  • Fluency in English ,Kurdish and Arabic (written and spoken),
