The Institute of Criminology is an academic and research department situated on the Sidgwick site in Cambridge. Alongside its active research, the Institute specialises in postgraduate teaching with MPhil, PhD, MSt and Degree Apprenticeship courses.

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our supportive and friendly professional services team. Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the Finance Assistant has wide ranging tasks and is the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries. The post holder is responsible for all accounts payable and receivable administration, purchase orders and finance administration. Additionally, the post holder runs and reviews University Financial System reports, maintains, files and archives financial records.

The successful candidate would be expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to relay information to a wide range of people of all levels. They will also have good organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of standard Microsoft packages, with a particular knowledge of Excel is essential. Experience of working with the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) would be highly desirable, however previous experience of working in an accounts environment is essential. The ability to manage workloads, to tight deadlines, in a busy office is essential. Whilst this is primarily an office based role, an element of hybrid working is possible.
