Finance Assistants provide support in the areas of Payments, General Accounting, Invoice Processing and Master Data Management and are responsible for reviewing case documentation for completeness, validity and conformity with current rules and regulations. These roles are responsible for transactional data entry into electronic systems for verification, ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
This is a temporary appointment for 6 months based in the Payments team. It is a great opportunity for career development in a fast-paced, multicultural context and for taking the first step towards an international career as part of the UN family.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement. University level courses in finance, accounting or business are desirable.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required. (A completed BA degree from an accredited institution qualifies as 3 years’ experience and will be counted towards work experience requirements.)
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) is required.
• Strong focus on accuracy and consistency, with strong analytical, data extraction and reporting skills is required.
• Proven ability to deal with confidential, sensitive communication and information, logical thinking are required.
• Experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
• Work experience with an international organization is an asset.
• Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
• Internal applicants (holders of fixed-term, continuing contracts) from the GSSC are required to complete their Learning Paths corresponding to their current level before applying for another position. Additionally, they must attach a snapshot of the completed path to their applications. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered. General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements. UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff. 

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions.  Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
