SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION:
The Center for International Security and Cooperation tackles the most critical security issues in the world today by bringing together leading scholars in the social and natural sciences to collaborate across disciplines and professional backgrounds. Part of Stanford’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies , we conduct innovative research and share our findings with policy makers and the public so everyone can better understand an increasingly complex international environment.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Center for International Security and Cooperation is seeking a Finance Associate who will be a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for providing finance-related and accounting support to accounting and finance functions. This position is responsible for financial operations, reimbursement processes, financial transactions related to research administration, and is a key resource for faculty and staff regarding related policies and procedures. The incumbent will work with minimum supervision, research discrepancies, and implement solutions. This position is fixed term for one year with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and programmatic need. This is an exciting position to learn and grow in the center and at Stanford University. 

Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and two years’ work experience. Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to operate computerized office applications and accounting systems.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
  • Ability to independently exercise good judgment and discreetly handle confidential information is essential.
  • Demonstrated success on following through and completing tasks independently as well as in a group, and to seek or offer assistance when required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Rarely stand, walk, reach, or work above shoulders and use a telephone.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Position is hybrid and may work extended hours during peak business cycles.

The expected pay range for this position is $25.48 to $33.17 per hour.
