Joining the MRC Biostatistics Unit (BSU) at the University of Cambridge presents an excellent opportunity to become part of a small, friendly team dedicated to providing pro-active support to research staff through the management of financial systems and administration of research grants.

It is vital that you possess excellent inter-personal skills to manage good working relationships with a wide variety of research staff to deliver a responsive financial service to them. Furthermore, exceptional organisational skills are essential to manage the busy and varied workload. Familiarity with grant applications and University finance systems would be beneficial but comprehensive training will be provided in this specialised area.

You should possess prior experience in a Finance role and exhibit a strong sense of professionalism. Candidates will be educated to Degree level /level 6 vocational qualifications, or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Financial/Accounting qualifications (AAT Professional Diploma or equivalent) would also be advantageous.

We welcome applications from those wishing to work part-time. The minimum part time hours considered would be 30 hours per week. The duties of the role would be altered accordingly to accommodate this.

We support hybrid working and so would not expect attendance in the office every working day, although a minimum of 2 days in the office is essential.

The MRC Biostatistics Unit is one of Europe’s leading biostatistics research institutions. Our focus is to deliver new analytical and computational strategies based on sound statistical principles for the challenging tasks facing biomedicine and public health. The Unit is situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the world’s most vibrant centres of biomedical research, which includes the University of Cambridge’s Clinical School, two major hospitals, the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, and the world headquarters of Astra Zeneca.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
