What We Can Achieve Together:
The New Jersey Chapter of the Nature Conservancy is hiring a Finance Coordinator. As a member of the New Jersey Business Unit’s Operations Team, the Finance Coordinator plays an integral part in supporting specific finance and business operations enabling the New Jersey Business Unit and its conservation teams to achieve its important conservation goals. The Finance Coordinator provides specialized finance and accounting services related to the Chapter’s administration of its grants and contracts.
We’re Looking for You:
Under the guidance of the Operations and Contracts Specialist, the Finance Coordinator provides specialized services, such as procurement, accounting, accounts payable, compliance, or similar financial activities, related to the financial administration of the New Jersey business unit’s grants and contracts. They are an expert in their area of specialization. They administer and maintain finance and accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management to ensure compliance during the grant and contract life cycle. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met;
- Reinforcing consistency in the organization’s policies and procedures and provides support related to relevant field;
- Handling accounts payable to contractors, grantees, and subawardees during the agreement lifecycle, includes working with the Project Manager making the payment request, assisting in securing all necessary internal documentation and approvals prior to making the payment, submitting the payment request, and financial tracking;
- Collecting and maintaining necessary documentation to set up vendors and maintain their accounts per TNC policies and procedures; and
- Assisting with grant or contract financial administration to ensure compliance with TNC and/or funder requirements.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years’ related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.
- Experience using automated accounting systems.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of grants and subaward accounting and finances.
- Grants and/or contracts administration experience.
- Accounts payable experience.
- Compliance and/or following policies and procedures experience.
