Job Purpose
The Finance Coordinator will assist the Country Finance Manager in all financial matters related to the MAG Iraq programme.
Primary Responsibilities:
•
Assist CFM with accounting, budgeting and all other financial/accounting activities as directed.
•
Provide support in preparation of annual budgets in Internal Budget Documents (IBD)
•
Provide support in monitoring budgets and project actuals.
•
Provide support to CFM in preparation of Budget Vs Actual Reports.
•
Assist in budget re-alignment and budget revisions.
•
Assist CFM to update quarterly/annual forecast in Adaptive Insight.
•
Assist Head Quarter (HQ) during audits and provide supporting documents to HQ as and when required during audit processes.
•
Support CFM in preparation of quarterly/annual donor reports.
•
Preparation of monthly balance sheet and make sure that all accounts are reconciled with accounting software (PSF).
•
Review local partner advance requests and expense reports and provide feedback.
Secondary Responsibilities:
•
Assist finance department in ensuring MAG complies with all statutory payment requirements and deductions.
•
Support CFM in preparation of monthly financial reports and other required information required.
•
Liaise with Erbil HR in the preparation of monthly Payroll schedules and creation of supporting Payroll templates. Ensure all payroll data is accurately recorded on the Payroll templates, uploaded to PSF and balanced to the Payroll monthly control account totals
•
Review payment requests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy.
•
Preparation of monthly funds request for submission to HQ
•
Review monthly financial data, assist in re-allocation of data between different accounts and grants for reconciliation purposes.
•
Ensure accurate and complete accounting and that relevant records are maintained
•
Assist CFM in complying with MAG HQ Finance policies, procedures and regulations
Other Responsibilities:
Liaison:
•
Manage the working relationships with local banks/cash providers ensuring that adequate funds are received promptly to meet working capital requirements and regular reconciliations are made to bank statements etc
•
Liaison with relevant Government finance departments, with an up to date knowledge of KRG accounting/tax law.
•
Provide adhoc support to the Sector Finance Officers in resolving daily financial issues arising in their sectors
•
Regular visits to sector offices for on job support
•
Participate in procurement committee meetings to represent finance team
Administration:
•
Ensure that all supporting documents, across all Sectors, are received and filed in a logical manner for easy retrieval and access at the Head Office location, currently Erbil.
•
Ensure that all Finance documents are properly archived in accordance with Finance Department policy
•
Perform other related duties as required by the Country Finance Manager.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualification and core competencies:
•
Further education in accounting or book keeping related background
•
Knowledge of Database System, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word etc.
•
At least five years of previous professional working experience in similar role, ideally for an NGO
•
Good Data Analytical skills
•
Excellent written, and spoken Kurdish (Essential), Arabic (Desirable) and English (Essential)
•
Excellent communication and team building skills
•
Excellent interpersonal skills
General:
•
Work towards achieving departmental business plan objectives.
•
Work within the framework of MAG’s core values.
•
He/she is expected to maintain a professional conduct in line with MAG’s core values since their actions represent MAG.
•
Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organisation.

•

•
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
