FINANCE MANAGER

Ka-Na-Chi-Hih is a non-profit that provides treatment for First Nation individuals to recover from polysubstance abuse. At Ka-Na-Chi-Hih Treatment Center, our philosophy of treatment involves holistic care, common respect, welcoming and caring for all, and a belied that everyone can do it. Our mission is to ensure we provide a nurturing and supportive environment for Indigenous individuals who are embarking on their healing journey to wellness of body, heart, mind, and spirit. Ka-Na-Chi-Hih is currently seeking applications for the position of Finance Manager.

SUMMARY:
As a member of Ka-Na-Chi-Hih, the Finance Manager reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the financial health of our organization. The position is responsible for directing and overseeing all matters related to financial planning, financial reporting, accounting, internal control, and treasury including services for the CEO and the Board of Directors. The Finance Manager’s duties include planning budgets, participating in audits, monitoring transactions, and preparing invoices. Qualifications include an in-depth knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and systems, in addition to being an excellent communicator, and strong analytical and time management abilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Ka-Na-Chi-Hih’s financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems, including maintaining an accurate filing and record keeping system
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within Ka-Na-Chi-Hih (payroll, invoicing, projects, grants, and other transactions) and assist with operations when needed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze and clearly communicate financial reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary
  • Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CEO
  • Monitor progress and changes; and keep the senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status
  • Assisting with the preparation of new and existing funding applications
  • Participate in meetings where financial support or advice may be helpful. This would include team meetings, Executive Committee, Board Meetings, Strategic Planning, fundraising, and other meetings as indicated
  • Lead the Finance team by communicating job expectations, establishing annual goals, objectives, and mechanisms for performance management, including performance appraisals and timely feedback
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices
  • Develop and maintain appropriate accounting and internal control policies and procedures
  • Assurance of confidentiality of all personnel, client and organizational records and information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or relevant field
  • CPA designation or enrollment in a professional accounting program is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office and financial applications
  • Experience with Adagio and/or PayDirt is an asset
  • Experience in working with and networking with First Nation communities
  • Able to provide a satisfactory police record check, work flexible hours and be fully vaccinated.
