About the Role
ARK’s Finance department is crucial in ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This enables ARK to maintain financial sustainability, accountability, and transparency, effectively fulfilling its mission and delivering impactful programs and projects.
As our project in Haiti expands, we’re seeking a Finance Manager to oversee and maintain ARK’s accounting records, ensuring compliance with ARK financial procedures and donor requirements. You’ll handle accurate data entry, archiving documentation, budget vs actual reporting, account reconciliations, cash flow management, and project audits. Additionally, you’ll leverage financial insights to enhance financial systems, policies, and overall financial planning.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing project budgets in collaboration with management, preparing amendments and realignments.
- Managing cash flow and suggesting viable options for improving the cash flow mechanism.
- Acting as liaison with project personnel involved in fiscal operations. Providing guidance and training to staff on fiscal procedures, policies, and compliance issues.
- Monitoring actual spending against the budget to ensure compliance and identify variances. Organising and maintaining weekly budget meetings with the Project Manager.
- Preparing regular financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis (glidepath). Implementing budgetary controls to manage expenditures and prevent overspending/underspending.
- Checking and verifying source documents such as invoices, receipts in line with approval mechanisms and financial procedures. Ensuring accurate and timely data entry and reporting.
- Recording financial transactions in regional accounting software (Acumatica/Microsoft Dynamics), including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL), and cash and bank transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure they are easily accessible for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Assisting in payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to staff.
- Maintaining and coordinating regular cash, bank, AP reconciliations.
- Ensuring exchange rates are correctly and accurately reflected in accounting entries (multi-currency accounting).
- Liaising with local accountants/auditors on all issues and completing relevant tax procedures in coordination with an independent auditing firm (VAT and corporate tax).
- Follow up on pending accounting and finance issues (accruals, prepayments, deposits, insurances, depreciations).
Requirements
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
- Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English and French
- Minimum 5+ years of finance and budget management experience in an International Organisation/Company.
- Proficient in IT, with expertise in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven expertise in utilising accounting software.
- Knowledgeable in IFRS Accounting Standards.
- Experienced in multi-currency accounting.

- Experience overseeing accounting operations in a multi-currency environment.

- Knowledge of financial rules and regulations for international donors such as Government of Canada, USAID, HMG
