Job Summary:

Serving Together for Social Development (STS) is a National NGO working in Somalia. We are dedicated to providing lifesaving relief in emergencies and development assistance to the most vulnerable people recovering from conflict, disaster and impact of climate change.

STS is seeking a Finance Manager to join our team in Mogadishu. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following;

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and maintain the organization’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals and objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance and identify variances, proposing corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit process.
  • Provide financial reports and analysis to the executive leadership and board of directors.

Cash and Funds Management:

  • Manage the organization’s cash flow, including forecasting, processing payments, and receipts.
  • Oversee the management of bank accounts, investments, and other financial assets.
  • Ensure proper internal controls and procedures for handling cash and other financial resources.

Grants and Donor Management:

  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and budgets.
  • Monitor grant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with program managers to ensure proper tracking and reporting of grant expenditures.
  • Maintain relationships with donors and funding agencies.

Financial Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks facing the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks, such as insurance coverage and internal controls.
  • Ensure the organization’s assets are properly safeguarded.

Accounting and Payroll Operations:

  • Oversee the accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Manage the payroll process, including tax withholdings and employee benefits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate record-keeping and documentation.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Provide financial management training and support to program managers and other staff.
  • Promote financial literacy and sound financial practices throughout the organization.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with program managers and other department heads to align financial planning and reporting.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner, providing financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership and board of directors on financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Professional Qualification in Accounting/Finance
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be an added advantage.
