This is a very exciting opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join a newly created Welsh Government Arms length body as their 1st Finance Manager.This is a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join a newly created Green Energy business as their 1st Finance Manager.The role requires the Finance Manager holder to contribute to the strategic development of the company whilst providing the hands-on delivery of day-to-day financial operations. The post-holder will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of the company and for ensuring the company complies with all necessary financial regulations and statutory obligations including preparation of the company accounts and statutory filings.Key responsibilities
- Lead on effective and legally compliant management of the company’s finances and the assets it manages on behalf of Welsh Government.
- Prepare monthly financial management reports for the Board and Leadership Team.
- Prepare company budgets and monitor expenditure.
- Using tried and tested financial analysis and modelling methodologies prepare economic scenarios and determine the present and future financial health of the company.
- Develop financial management strategies to reduce financial risk, providing accurate and timely financial data and information to assist the Board and Senior Leadership Team in their decision-making.
- Ensure the company complies with all necessary financial regulations and statutory obligations including organising and overseeing the preparation of the company accounts and other statutory filings both for the Company and the project SPVs.
- Establish robust internal control procedures to safeguard the company’s assets and the effective use of public funds to prevent fraud.
- Build strong effective working relationships with finance, auditors, financial regulatory leads within Welsh Government and other key stakeholder organisations.
- Support the preparation of due diligence submissions and project proposals and contribute to the drafting of consultant contracts as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the Procurement and Contracts Manager in ensuring the timely production of purchase orders and the processing of invoices.
- Be accountable for monitoring various financial IT systems and contracts including payroll, pensions, expenses, invoicing, and other electronic transactions.
Be the 1st Finance manager in a Green Energy Start up!|hybrid working – 1 day a week in the officeA successful Finance Manager should have:
- Membership of a recognised professional institute e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA or similar.
- Demonstrate significant financial management experience and achievement including:
- Annual budget setting
- Purchase ledger management
- Forecasting year end expenditure
- Preparing financial information for business cases, tenders, finding bids and contracts.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Excellent attention to details
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint in particular)
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
- Effective presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, mathematical, financial modelling skills.
- Effective team player who excels at preforming in a collaborative environment.
This organisation is a newly created Arms Length Welsh Government body operating in the Green energy space. The business was incorporated in 2023 and is now looking to recruit their 1st Finance Manager.
- A competitive salary range of £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
