We are seeking a Finance Officer to support day-to-day accounting needs. This role will provide financial processing and financial administrative support to ensure the completion of award accounting in accordance with the funder directive.
The Finance Officer will be a member of the finance team and report to the Finance Manager.
Duty Station: Remote
Contract Duration: 6 months with probable extension
The Challenge
- Prepare payment requests and supporting documentation on a daily basis.
- Prepare GRC-wide payment requests for month-end consultant’s invoices, checking timesheets and monthly invoices.
- Ensure each payment has all supporting documentation compliant with internal financial procedures and donor regulations.
- Contribute to ensuring an efficient administrative flow – completion of necessary paperwork/forms etc between finance, admin and procurement teams.
- Support, from an administration perspective, all finance processes, to ensure proper and full implementation.
- Participate in procurement price gathering and comparison as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of the funder’s and GRC’s financial policies and procedures and serve as a resource for program teams.
- Troubleshoot accounting problems: identify and implement creative solutions.
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing periodic financial reports regarding grant status and spending to funders, as required by contracts.
- Monitor, track, reconcile, and assist in billing for all the organisation’s grants and contracts with government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Check and help with the preparation of travel and expense reports for field missions.
- Reconcile and verify grant-related invoices with organisation records and contractual agreements.
- Support during audits – pulling together & preparing the necessary paperwork for submission ensuring all is compliant based on donor requirements.
- Maintain and track insurance claims.
- Any other tasks as required and requested by the line manager.
Your Background
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience with an emphasis on reconciliation and financial reporting required in a non-profit or international development environment.
- Knowledge of Ukrainian accounting processes and principles are desirable.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with enterprise-level non-profit accounting software preferably QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting processes.
- General knowledge of not-for-profit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Standards.
- Ability to gather financial data and accurately create spreadsheets and financial reports.
- Proficiency in financial management, accounting spreadsheets, and word processing programs.
- Well-organised and able to handle multi-task in a busy office environment.
- Demonstrate thoroughness and success with detailed work regardless of quantity or variety of data.
- Ability to maintain stable and helpful performance under difficult circumstances, operating comfortably in an uncertain environment.
- Willingness to take advantage of opportunities to avoid or solve problems.
- Fluency in English, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ukrainian is an advantage.
