  • Salary breakdown: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging ($15,900.00 + Meal & Entertainment expenses)
  • 0.8 FTE, 2 year contract until July 2027
  • Provide a support to a range of internal stakeholders through general accounting duties with a focus on process improvement

The Role

The Finance Officer provides support to a range of internal stakeholders through general accounting duties. In addition, the role assists with identifying and implementing process improvements across the finance function at Black Dog Institute.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the monthly financial accounting processes for BDI, including revenue and expense recognition.
  • Monthly reconciliation of several general ledger accounts including bank accounts.
  • Post and reconcile transactions in Xero for Mind Venture subsidiary.
  • Travel provider (MP Travel) and credit card reconciliation.
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including customer management, raising invoices and processing refunds.
  • Assist with accounts payable, including supplier management, supplier onboarding, supplier bank and business details checking.
  • Support audit process.
  • Management of the finance inbox.
  • Regularly review operating processes and procedures for work area and recommend and implement changes to allow for greater productivity.
  • Assist Finance Business Partners as required.
  • Support audit process.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong Excel skills, including ability to troubleshoot
  • Ability to effectively manage time, set priorities and organise work in an effective and efficient manner to achieve set objectives to agreed timelines.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both within and outside the organisation to  effectively translate ideas, concepts, and information.
  • Demonstrated practical skills in accounting and use of finance systems, including several platforms
  • High levels of accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyse and solve problems and use judgement and conceptual skills to make sound decisions.
