Finance Officer

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations. 

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Finance Officer for its activities in Sumy.  

This position will be supervised by the Finance Team Leader.

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Base Manager and technical support from the Finance Team Leader, the Finance Officer will manage the day-to-day financial functions of the office and  supporting the implementation of DRC program activities

Main responsibilities:

• Preparing and processing payments made by cash, by check or via bank transfer;
• Management of auxiliary expenses, their distribution (fuel, salary, rent, etc.) based on reported expenses confirmed by relevant supporting documents;
• Ensure daily updating of the Expense Journals in ERP systems and Cash Books in Excel to reflect the actual state of the available bank balance in all currencies;
• Review of Purchase Requests and Requests for Payments;
• Support with the audit of each project at the request of the Finance Manager;
• Active participation in the harmonization of operational work between regional and base offices: exchange of ideas, creation of tools, updating of instructions, etc.;
• Ensure proper filing system for financial documents.
• Providing other financial support in the office and preparing reports at the request of the manager.

Required experience and competencies:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance
• Previous experience with INGO will be an advantage
• Intermediate level and above of the English language
• Excellent skills in working with Microsoft Office;
• Developed organizational skills;
• Accuracy in filing documents;
• Financial literacy
• Knowledge of tax legislation

Required education: Higher degree in relevant field or equivalent (finance, accounting)
