Job Description:
Position Overview: WATAD is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer to join our team in Dhi-Qar, Iraq. The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing financial transactions, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and revision of project budgets, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies.
Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, variance analysis, and cash flow projections for internal and external stakeholders.
Grant Management: Monitor project expenditures and funding allocations, track donor contributions, and ensure proper documentation and reporting for grant-funded projects.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits, provide support in audit preparation, respond to audit inquiries, and ensure compliance with organizational policies, accounting standards, and donor requirements.
Financial Controls: Develop and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure transparency and accountability in financial transactions.
Capacity Building: Provide training and support to project staff and partners on financial management principles, budget monitoring, donor compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and challenges, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure adequate internal controls are in place to manage risks effectively.
Donor Reporting: Coordinate with program managers and project staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, including narrative and financial reports, grant proposals, and funding requests.
Ad-hoc Tasks: Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Manager or senior management team to support the overall financial management and operational effectiveness of the organization.
