Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Finance Officer to join our team in Canberra. The Finance Officer will be responsible for accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining creditor and debtor files, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end processing, providing supporting documentation for audits, and general administration tasks. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months of experience in a similar role and possess a Certificate in Business or similar qualification.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process accounts payable accurately including grant payments
- Liaise with relevant departments to verify invoice accuracy and obtain approvals
- Ensure accurate coding and processing of invoices
- Maintain creditor files to ensure that they are accurate and up to date
- Monitor payment of regular supplier invoices to ensure these are paid in a timely manner
- Be a point of contact for creditors, respond to payment queries, reconcile creditor accounts and issue remittance advices
Accounts Receivable:
- Accurate processing of accounts receivable.
- Maintain debtor files to ensure that they are accurate and up to date.
- Production of monthly debtors’ reports and follow up of outstanding debtor invoices.
Other Responsibilities:
- Reconcile corporate credit card transactions
- Assist with month-end processing
- Provide documentation for audits
- Perform general administrative duties
- Undertake project work within skills range
Qualifications:
- Certificate in Business or related field
- Minimum of 12 months experience in similar role
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with Xero or similar accounting system
