Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
INSO provides daily support to more than 1200 NGOs operating in 17 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

Job Summary
As the Finance Officer, you have overall responsibility for preparing and posting HQ accounting entries (including banks, payroll, payables, revenues, corrections and intercompany) from A-Z as well as prepare comprehensive supporting documentation for every transaction. You will also liaise with banks and providers of payment services. This position is based at our Headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands and reports to the Finance Manager.
Major Responsibilities
- Timely completion of month-end closing for INSO HQ, including preparation & posting of journals & corresponding supporting documentation.
- Prepare payments to vendors, staff reimbursements, transfers to Country Offices and currency exchanges.
- Support Payroll Officer with payment of salaries.
- Support Country Offices (especially start-ups) with the processing of payments to their local vendors.
- Liaise with HQ Departments to ensure documentation is complete and in line with SOPs.
- Along with Finance Manager, keeps a critical eye on accounting entries, documentation and processes to foster continuous improvement
- Support Finance Manager with finance review of purchase requests, travel requests and travel claims.
- Support Finance Manager in financial reporting to donors who co-fund INSO HQ.
Mandatory requirements
- Fluency in English
- Right to live and work in the Netherlands
- Minimum 3 years work experience in similar roles with NGOs or private sectors
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent education
- Experience with SunSytems & Q&A or with any other accounting / ERP system
- Proficient in MS Office, good command of Excel
- Detailed, organised, good communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience in an international grant- / government-funded NGO
- Knowledge of Dutch accounting standards
- Dutch language
- French language
Salaire
Terms & Conditions
12-month full-time fixed-term contract (renewable) based in The Hague, Netherlands. Employment Agreement based on the Dutch social security and taxation rules with a €4,800 per month gross salary + 8% vacation pay (vakantiegeld) and 2.5 days annual leave per month. We provide Basic Premium ONVZ health insurance in the Netherlands and travel insurance when travelling for work. A relocation allowance is available. The right to live and work in the Netherlands is required for this position.
