The Organisation
OPAN is a national network of independent member organisations that give a voice to older people who are eligible or receiving aged care services. The network provides free and confidential aged care advocacy, information and education to older Australians, their families or representatives. We are independent of the government and aged care providers.
As a peak body organisation, OPAN works with the government and other agencies to influence aged care policy through systemic advocacy. Our collective vision is of a society where older people are heard, informed and respected, and where they can enjoy and exercise their rights to live fulfilling lives.
About The Role And Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer is responsible for processing financial transactions, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable whilst also managing accounting records through Xero.
Your typical day will include:
- Process fortnightly and monthly payroll with salary sacrifice deductions and superannuation
- Monitor salary sacrifice records and external provider accounts via EML
- Manage and process accounts payable, and accounts receivable whilst maintaining evidence, approval and authorisation for payments
- Maintain and monitor the Ezzybills workflow approval system and contact records for employees, suppliers and customers
- Assist the Finance Manager with monthly financial reports and ad hoc tasks
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with Xero (or similar accounting package) and an understanding of the NFP sector (and fringe benefit tax) will be highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong time management, the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines, and the ability to work through problems or challenges logically
- Excellent multitasking, time management and organisational skills, without losing attention to detail
The successful candidate will be asked to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and will be willing to obtain a National Police Check.
