Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Finance Technical Assistant is to operate daily financial tasks and support to Finance Coordinator (Kyiv) at the North Area Office, make sure implementing and complying with the financial system and procedures in line with the Financial Handbook and the other NRC policies.

Generic responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
  2. Implement and comply with financial systems and procedures according to Financial Handbook and the other NRC policies
  3. Verify that all vouchers and supporting documents as per to standards are set in the Financial Handbook, make sure of proper coding then enter them into NRC’s accounting system
  4. Record all cash movements and prepare cashbox reconciliations
  5. Follow up on advances, clearances, and refunds
  6. Prepare and arrange for bank withdrawals and transfers, present verification
  7. Maintain the filing system for all financial and accounting documents
  8. Collaborate with Finance Officer regarding monthly
  9. Prepare periodic financial reports, submit for review
  10. Support project and program staff with financial matters

Specific responsibilities 

  • Respect the financial calendar in terms of deadlines (for closing grants, quarterly or monthly financial reports, checking data, payment, etc.)
  • Review the supporting documentation and other implementing documents, make necessary corrections as needed regarding project code, budget ID, account number, and other information
  • Ensure that all payment requests are properly documented, verified, and authorized before payments are made
  • Compile the monthly Cash Forecast for the field office and share it with the Finance Officer
  • Scan financial documents, perform other Finance Technical Assistant’s role relevant tasks.

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Finance Department in country
  • Logistics, Admin/HR, Program Departments in AON

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • University
  • One Year experience in Finance or Accounting Field with NGOs/INGOs
  • Good communication skills
  • Good computer skills in MS word, Excel, PowerPoint and any accounting software
  • Good organization and adaptability about work and time schedule
  • Enable to contribute and work with a team
