Purpose of the role
The purpose of the technical officer position is day to day implementation of the finance functions responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will do
- Ensure adherence with NRC Finance policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Ensure proper filing of documents
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
- Prepare and submit reports and analysis
- Support line manager in procedures and require support team training
Specifically, you will;
- Support the Area Support Coordinator and AM in monthly BvA process
- Support budget holders with queries and questions
- Responsible for managing the daily accounting activities at the Area office.
- Ensure accounting and recording are in the line with NRC finance guidelines
- Responsible for ensuring timely submission of the monthly forecast, and payroll.
- Responsible for timely booking transactions in NRC accounting system using the correct budget codes
- Responsible for the Audit process for Area Office, providing required documents by Country Office.
- Deliver training for non-finance staff at the Area office when require.
- Ensure proper filing of all support documents in accordance with the SSD country SOP
- Regular visits to Sub Offices in Tuz and Ramadi (minimum monthly to each sub office)
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Professional competencies
- Experience from working as a Support Function Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Working knowledge of English
- Written and spoken fluency in Arabic
- Previous experience working with budgets and accounting with an INGO
- Strong history of compliance to SOPs and regulations.
- Proven attention to detail
- Proven ability to coordinate with multiple departments
- Proactive in problem solving and removing bottlenecks
- Proven ability to share information
- Ability to travel and stay in Tuz and Ramadi sub offices regularly

Contract Duration: until 31 December, 2024 (our contract renewal cycle runs from January to December)
Duty Station: Baghdad- Iraq with 40% travel to Tuz and Ramadi

Salary: G6/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
