Position Summary:
 
With an internal budget of $10-12 million dollars and reserve funds of $15-20 million, the SGSM supports a variety of programs and services to the campus as well as advocacy campaigns. SGSM owns and operates campus transportation – Anteater Express shuttle service and provides financial services for over 600 campus organizations, five governments, and five medias.

 

Under the general supervision of the Senior Financial & Policy Analyst, the Financial Analyst – AGS will act as a business operations program advisor, provide internal policy & business practice review assistance specific to graduate governments, oversee logistical plans, and support the implementation of new and existing programs within AGS, which includes the main government and three professional governments – medical, law, and business. Will assist in providing operational and financial forecasting; policy development, review, and implementation; and direct financial analyst support. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting and supporting the SGSM Business Office with general accounting functions. Duties include general accounting, disbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, budget performance reports, billing, and general accounting reports, e.g., general ledger, profit/loss, accounts receivable aging, disbursements, etc. Act as part of the financial check & balance protocols for the graduate governments to the overall SGSM Business. Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department but may also be external.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $29.26 – $40.28 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $29.26 – $51.29 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
 

  • At least two years of directly related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to give strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skill to interpret and apply guidelines and policies and communicate them to users.

 

Preferred:
 

  • Working knowledge of university structure, organization, policies, practices, and systems
  • Knowledge of financial systems, ancillary, and auxiliary.
