POSITION SUMMARY:

Project HOPE is expanding our Finance Team to better support our Global Operations Finance Teams and our International Programs with several Financial Analyst positions. These key positions are the backbone of support for all efforts within assigned programs under the Global Operations Finance team’s initiatives.

PRINICIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the International Field Teams where staff may be required to travel Internationally based on program needs and/or emergency response activities.
  • This position also supports financial aspects of Emergency Response, which may require deployment to hardship or austere remote locations when necessary.
  • Assist in monthly closing process, ensuring that deadlines are met:
    • Review and input data into the project management and general ledger systems for accuracy.
    • Assist with requests for replenishment of cash accounts, prepare wire request form.
    • Assist with reconciliation all balance sheet accounts for assigned regions and field sites, including cash, advances, prepaid, liabilities, and accounts receivable.
    • Recognize revenue for all projects in specified region per grant compliance, either manually or verifying the automatic revenue recognition process is working correctly.
    • Review results of the closing process and generate corrections as necessary.
    • Review field financial reports and back-up documentation to ensure that expenditures comply with the grant document and related regulations.
    • Perform Project Analysis and support monthly projection process.
  • Assist with training and support to Global Operations Finance Department, Regional Directors and Program Managers in the understanding of financial activity, including field compliance, budget variances, and its implications for program management, regulations, policies and procedures, ad hoc reporting and general capacity building.
  • Assist in year-end closing activities such as accruals, fixed asset inventories.
  • Assist with Internal and External Audits as well as audit samples.
  • Initiate new project set-up, maintain project files electronically, and paper format.
  • Process vendor payments and collect Head Quarter paid documentation (travel, vendors, consultants).
  • Prepare required funder reports and invoices in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Provide professional assistance and interactions with donors (via phone, computer and/or face-to-face).
  • Assist in budgeting process, upload board budget, and grant budget in financial system.
  • Assist in procurement and proposal review process.
  • Collaborate and assist with other regions and departments as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Accounting preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in general ledger, financial accounting, preferably not-for-profit, project, or government funding.
  • Must have intermediate level knowledge of Excel (pivot table, look-up).
  • Demonstrated ability to use large scale automated accounting systems, knowledge of QuickBooks a plus.
  • Direct experience in performing and reviewing fund and account balance reconciliations as well as preparing and reviewing ledger entries, adjustments and accruals.
  • Experience in preparing materials for and responding to end-of-year audits.
  • Experience in creating or modifying accounting or reporting procedures and policies to ensure proper financial control and data integrity.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, including variance analysis, as well as the ability to explain these to persons with little financial acumen.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.

Salary range starting at $58,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate’s location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
