Your new role
As a Women’s Legal Financial Counsellor, you will deliver specialist family violence financial counselling services to women experiencing family violence, working collaboratively with lawyers and social workers as part of an integrated model of service.
- Conduct intake and assessment to determine whether a service user is eligible for financial counselling assistance.
- Assist service users to understand their consumer rights and advocate to creditors and service providers.
- Monitor and assess Family Violence risk using the MARAM framework
- Source Family Violence payments where applicable.
- Work with our teams in the development and delivery of community education and training programs.
This is a part-time (minimum 3 days) position.
What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you should have experience providing financial counselling in a community or not for profit organisation. Your ability to formulate financial action plans, coupled with high level knowledge of the financial impact and issues that relate to family violence, will be key. A diploma of financial counselling and eligibility for membership with Financial Counselling Victoria Inc is required.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) providing financial counselling to clients in a community or not for profit organisation, experience within an integrated practice is preferable.
- Knowledge of relevant State and Federal credit, debt and social security legislation.
- A commitment to advancing the public interest and social justice.
- Demonstrated experience using trauma informed practice working with clients.
