  • Maximum Term Contract – Part time (0.8 FTE) and/or Full Time (1 FTE)
  • South East QLD – Expectation to work on-location at GSANZ or Community-Based Service (5 days a week)
  • SCHADS Level 4, $86,828.60 (plus super and salary packaging)

Role Purpose

Financial Resilience Workers provide support to identify a service user’s presenting needs and facilitate access to resources for financial and material assistance to alleviate financial stress and hardship.

The role will also assist in preparing applications for assistance including no interest loans, facilitate access to Financial Counsellors, legal and other services, and refer to specialist services to address issues linked with financial hardship and other social vulnerabilities like mental health, homelessness, and domestic & family violence services.

Key Responsibilities

Assess an individual’s presenting financial, personal and any other relevant circumstances; and help service users build skills to avoid or resolve financial difficulties and strengthen their capacity to manage their money.

Provide financial capability development through budgeting support, promote financial resilience, and ensure service users have access to financial literacy through a range of educational, developmental, and support services including facilitation of group training.
Provide information and support access to grants, benefits, utilities relief, rent support relief and other measures to resolve and alleviate financial stress. Assist with access to the No-Interest Loans Scheme (NILS).

Refer and connect clients to internal and external services based on their need and agreed service plan. Obtain consent for referrals. Connect to local area services including community organisations, foodbank services, emergency housing services, employment support, family violence services and other services offered through partner organisations.

About you

  • Completion of a minimum Diploma level in Community Services equivalent or demonstrated experience.
  • Completion of (desirable):
    • CHCFLE301A – work with clients needing a financial literacy education;
    • CHCFLE302A – educate clients in fundamental financial literacy skills, and
    • CHCFLE303A – educate clients to understand debt and consumer credit.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals or groups to build financial capability skills, knowledge and self-efficacy with the objective of developing behaviours consistent with improved financial wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a trauma-informed approach, including family violence and economic abuse, and principles of social justice.
