About Haringey

Haringey Council is one of 32 in London. Haringey is an extremely diverse borough, and the
Council has set clear ambitious objectives through its borough plan to make Haringey a better
place to live, encourage investment and create opportunities that all can share. Haringey’s
vision for the future is one of sustainable growth, in housing and jobs and on helping our
residents and businesses take advantage of that growth. We have got huge ambitions for
Haringey. As the shape of local government continues to change, we are determined to rise to
the challenge and find new ways to ensure that our residents enjoy the best opportunities in
life. Working at Haringey gives you the opportunity to play a part in meeting those ambitions
on behalf of everyone who calls the borough their home.

About the role

Are you looking for a new, exciting, and challenging role that directly improves the lives of
our residents and the natural environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an
organised, self-motivated, and dedicated Park Ranger to help maintain our award-winning
Finsbury Park.

Finsbury Park is one of our flagship parks, holding a Green Flag award in recognition of its
internationally benchmarked standards and provision. The park offers a mixture of open
parkland, formal gardens, sports facilities, lakes, and mature trees including an arboretum. In
addition to this, the park is home to a busy events program facilitating festivals and live
music performances throughout the season. Parkland Walk Nature Reserve connects to Finsbury
Park and provides a pedestrian and cycle route that links the park with Crouch Hill Park,
Crouch End, and Highgate Underground Station.

The Park Ranger will support the Finsbury Park Manger with ensuring a high level of usage and
community ownership is achieved in Finsbury Park. You will do this by building relationships
with exiting stakeholders and creating new ones. You will facilitate activities that will not
only engage users but will enhance the park, making it a pleasant and safe environment. Please
note that the area of work is flexible to the needs of the service and is subject to change
when required.

About you

You will have supervisory experience working in amenity horticulture, grounds maintenance, or a
parks and gardens environment, preferably in the public sector. You will have a passion for
grounds maintenance, horticulture and working outside in all seasons. A strong sense of
ownership, initiative, and communication skills are required to build collaborative
partnerships with colleagues, and volunteer groups. You will be confident in carrying out work
schedules, overseeing work, and delivering horticultural renovations and improvements. Nature
and conservation will be at the heart of everything you do, and you will be an integral part of
helping the council to achieve its climate change action plan and carbon net zero target.
