The fire effects crew is hiring a permanent, full-time GS 5 Biological Science Technician (Fire Effects Monitor). This position will be based out of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area but will travel to NPS units within the Southern Plains and Rio Grande Valley.  The position consists of extensive travel during the spring and summer to monitor vegetation recovery and trends post-fire. Fall and winter work consists of data entry and some report writing. While is it not a requirement of the job, interested crewmembers can participate in prescribed fire operations and wildfire suppression.
