Fire Extinguisher Technician – Temporary

Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $15.00 per hour

DUTIES:

• Responsible for the monthly inspections and maintenance of fire extinguishers on USF Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee campuses to maintain compliance with fire code requirements, 
• Replaces and Installs missing or discharged fire extinguishers and extinguisher equipment. Assists fire extinguisher contractor with annual inspection, testing and maintenance of system extinguishers. 
• Maintains and updates computer inventory of extinguishers and Inputs Inspection Information and daily activities in the computer database. 
• Assists with fire safety training to include setup and use of fire extinguisher pit. 
• Assists with conducting annual fire and emergency evacuation drills throughout USF campuses. 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a ninth grade education and six months of appropriate work experience. A valid Florida Driver’s License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer prior experience with maintenance of fire extinguishers or knowledge of Fire Safety/Prevention, Florida Building and Electrical Codes.
