The goal of this assignment is to finalise Uganda’s long-term strategy on climate change. This process shall consider the review and updating of the LTS mitigation assessment modeling work to align with current and ongoing planning processes and documents such as NDP4 parameters, alignment with outcomes of the NDP3 midterm review, the new macroeconomic modeling, the energy policy for Uganda, and the draft energy transition strategy for Uganda, setting both Uganda’s LTS economy-wide emission reduction target and sector-specific emission reduction targets, conducting stakeholder consultations and validations with the relevant sectors, and incorporating stakeholder feedback. The consultants will build on the existing draft LTS and engage the relevant stakeholders and actors to support its finalisation.
The consultancy firm will be hired to support the assignment. The scope of work will include the following;
- Conduct a review and update LTS mitigation assessment modelling work to align with current and ongoing planning processes and documents, specifically NDP4 parameters, alignment with outcomes of the NDP3 midterm review, the new macroeconomic modelling, the energy policy for Uganda, and the draft energy transition strategy.
- Conduct LTS economy -wide reduction target/by 2050 from New BAU emission projections currently at 235.7MtCO2e and sector-specific reduction target for/by 2050.
- Reviewing, updating, proposing, and/or confirming the current draft LTS pillars and actions to align with new updates from the modelling assessment.
- Conducting stakeholder consultations on the draft LT LEDS
- Organizing national validation Workshop for the LT LEDS
- Incorporate feedback from workshops and revise LT-LEDS document.
- Support towards the organization of a launch event of the LT LEDS
- Finalisation of communication and knowledge products on the LTS
