St John Ambulance (Vic) has been saving lives and delivering care and compassion throughout Victoria for 140 years. Our volunteers and staff are the lifeblood of everything we do. We are currently recruiting for First Aid Responders to provide First Aid services at events and for our clients around Victoria.
The Opportunity
The First Aid Responders deliver first aid service and immediate care to ill or injured members of the public attending events across the Victorian community. Working alongside our volunteers and staff members at events or public spaces, you will be providing a calm and reassuring presence for the public when they are ill or injured.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide First Aid Services to clients in the event of injury or illness
- Follow all First Aid protocols and procedures
- Provide a high level of customer service to patients, client and people you have contact with while representing St John Ambulance Victoria
- Maintain administrative tasks – including patient care records and shift reports
- Positively represent and prom the St John mission and policies to member and the community
- Work collaboratively within the team and with event organisers
Your experience
- Hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Certificate
- Willingness to commit to and complete additional RTO qualification skill sets including:
- 22556VIC – Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
- 22578VIC – Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
- HLTAID014 – Provide advanced first aid: Our first aid responders possess the necessary qualification in advanced first aid, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to handle complex medical situations
- HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy: Our personnel have undergone training in advanced resuscitation techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and other life-saving procedures
- PUAEME008 – Provide pain management (or equivalent courses)
- Willingness to commit to and complete professional development modules as prescribed by SJAV as part of the induction and ongoain annual requirements
- High level of verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clear, informed and meaningful messages to colleagues
- Ability to show leadership and provide support to fellow members
- Valid Full Australian Driver Licence and safe driving record is required
