About the role

The First Nations Talent Lead will work within the People and Culture team to evolve and drive the implementation of a First Nations Employment Strategy in their direct workforce. You will work collaboratively with leaders and colleagues to attract, develop and retain First Nations employees through meaningful and compelling career pathways, spanning the development of emerging talent pipelines, talent attraction, acquisition and candidate care, and career development support. You will partner closely with both the Belonging and Wellbeing team and Social License team (including the First Nations Program Manager) to deliver the First Nations Employment Strategy as a key element in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

About you

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be proactive and collaborative in their approach and come with a comprehensive background in talent acquisition. You will have well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to build relationships, both internally with leaders and colleagues, and externally with First Nations communities. You will demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing First Nations employment outcomes through innovative strategies and contributing to broader diversity and inclusion Initiatives within a large Australian business. This role requires someone who can drive change, foster career growth, and align efforts with Transurban Reconciliation Action Plan and corporate strategy.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Proven ability to manage relationships effectively, influence stakeholders at all levels, and collaborate across internal and external networks.
  2. Extensive experience in developing recruitment, talent attraction, and retention strategies within complex organizations, with a sound understanding of best practices in recruitment.
  3. Relevant work experience in ASX, corporate or government environments desirable, not essential.
  4. Practical understanding of how commercial and strategic factors influence prioritisation of initiatives, actions, and budgets.
  5. Strong organisational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  6. Can demonstrate lived experience of cultural knowledge to be able to work in partnership with First Nations Peoples, organisations and communities.
