This is a field biologist position and throughout the year field duties include: operating adult and juvenile fish traps; marking fish with various tags/tracking fish movements with PIT and radio telemetry equipment; measuring presence and abundance of salmonids in the wild (e.g. snorkel, electrofishing, and spawning surveys); collection of water quality and quantity measurements; and hatchery smolt quality measurements. Incumbent will participate as the Education and outreach coordinator for the monitoring & Evaluation Project for the Hood River Production Program. Field trips and in-class room lessons will be implemented to engage youth with a focus on tribal culture, salmon biology and watershed health. Incumbent will also assist with data summary, data analysis, technical report writing along with other Hood River projects, including stream habitat restoration, to help fulfill the CTWS mission to restore salmon and steelhead fisheries in the Hood River basin.
